Comparison - Cuisinart DCC-1200 vs Keurig B70
70Cuisinart DCC-1200 or Keurig B70
Hello all and welcome to this comparison of the Cuisinart DCC-1200 and the Keurig B70 platinum coffee makers. Over the course of this relatively short review I would like to attempt to deliver a reasonably succinct yet detailed comparison of these two machines and hopefully allow you to make a confident decision which is the better of the two machines. I will be covering the good points and the bad points of both machines and also letting you see the places where the two machines provide pretty much the same.
When it comes to choosing a coffee maker it can become rather difficult at times, this is usually becuase doing all the research required to make an informed decision about even one coffee maker can be tiresome. Here are some points to consider before making a purchase.
1. How many cups does it make, 10, 12 or 14 cups?
2. Does it come with a thermal carafe? Or is it a glass carafe?
3. Do you really need a multi-cup coffee maker? or might you be better with a single server?
4. Price and quality of coffee. Is it really worth shelling out so much money?
5. Grinder. Do you want to grind seperately or do you want an all in one coffee maker with grinder?
If you consider all of the above you should at least know what to start looking for when researching different coffee machines.
Cuisinart DCC-1200 - A Little Outdated?
I will begin with the Cuisinart DCC-1200. While this machine is a multi serving coffee maker which can make up to 12 cups of coffee at once, I do feel it should be compared to the Keurig B70 if only because of how popular they both are. The Cuisinart is the best selling coffee maker on amazon.com bar none. I think the main reason that it has this title is because of the price and the quality of the coffee. You would be hard pushed to find a machine that can do what the Cuisinart DCC-1200 can do for the same price. The vast majority of machines that produce on par with the coffee houses are way over the 100 dollar mark.
The fact that the Cuisinart DCC-1200 comes with a glass carafe could be taken as a negative thing, what with so many cheaper (or roughly around the same price) machines that are now coming with thermal carafes on their machines as a standard. We shouldn’t forget however that the Cuisinart has been on the market now for almost 10 years, and it is because of this and the reputation that it has developed over those 10 years that keeps it atop the best seller lists, perhaps not because of the feature set that it has.
Keurig B70 - No Carafe and 30 Second Brew Time
The Keurig B70 platinum on the other hand is one of the single serve machines that does not dispense coffee into a carafe like you might have come to expect from coffee makers, here our coffee is dispensed directly in the cup we are going to drink it from. I think that in many ways this method of coffee making is actually superior to the carafe system.
I think this for a number of reasons. Firstly the issues with carafes is do we go with a glass carafe and heating plate, which will leave our coffee tasting burnt within minutes of it being brewed. Or do we go with the thermal carafe which while keeping our coffee hot and fresh for as long as most people would usually take to brew coffee, there can often be difficulties pouring and getting the last few drops of coffee out of the carafe. Perhaps it’s best to simply use no carafe at all.
This is even more true when we are getting our coffee so fast, the Keurig B70 coffee maker can brew you a full cup of coffee in just 30 seconds flat. This is main reason I think it is on a par with multi brewers, this machine actually brews almost twice as fast as the Cuisinart DCC-1200, which can brew at approximately 1 cup per minute (I say almost as fast because we have to remove the cup and place another pod in the machine with the B70).
In summary I have to conclude that the Keurig B70 is part of a new generation of coffee maker, and is most definitely the coffee maker that I would recommend to you all.
Thanks very much for reading, I hope you found some useful information here.
Huge Range of Pods from Keurig website
The pod system that comes with the Keurig range of single servers is one of the greatest things that come with these machines. You may well also have been considering other single servers like those from Tassimo or Senseo. While there are a few features with these machines that are quite impressive, I think the enormous range of gourmet coffee pods that Keurig have available on their website, knocks the competition out of the water.
Keurig have brought in hundreds of gourmet coffee manufacturers to aid their cause and with big names like Diderich , Timothy’s, Van Houtte, Tully’s, Newman’s Own, Coffee People and many more, I don’t see many other single servers matching Keurig in this area any time soon.
